Tell me. Have you ever seen FOUR widgetized sidebars? Rarely? No? That’s what I thought! Having more sidebars doesn’t mean it’s superior to other themes, but it sure looks cool!
For this Poker theme, I modified another one of my private themes and turned it into a 2 column to 3 column widgetized hybrid.
Love this design - any chance of a screenshot with 3 columns? I can’t imagine how it would look!
Where does the third sidebar show up? Please add a link to your blogroll (to WPD, even
) and show us the 3 column glory!
Thanks for the suggestion Dean. One sidebar sits on top and there are three at the bottom.

Just one problem which I found. The function.php file should be functions.php. Otherwise the sidebars are not registered for widgets.

Thanks Steve, I should’ve spotted that. I renamed functions.php to test out the regular sidebars and forgot to change it back.
I modified Poker for my site - you can check it out at http://deanish.com . The base of the theme is very well structured - I’ve only changed a few things:
)
- made the first/top sidebar a bit skinnier, providing more room for the main column
- modified the background images
- changed the color scheme dramatically (I’m not a big fan of red
I still have a little tweaking to do, but not a whole lot. I love the ridiculous amount of widgitized sidebars.

Hi Potato, I’ve used your theme for the news section of our Poker League site. I’m about to upgrade my WP to v2.1 do you know of any compatibility problems with this version and your theme? Also I’d like to add the posters name to each blog post, is that a big edit?

Thanks for using Poker. There’s no problem that I know of. If there’s any, you can get at my forums.
Adding the author’s name is no biggy, add the_author() to where you want the author’s name to appear.
Don’t forget the PHP opening and end codes around the_author(). I can’t post the exact code here because it will not show up in the comments.

Another question: why do you put rel=”nofollow” in your a tags? Is this to stop search engines following the link? Why?
WordPress adds nofollow by default. And yes, it’s specifically for google to not follow.
