You can radically improve your chances of selling themes for profit if you locate people doing online marketing in specific niches, listen to what they need, and create a highly customized solution that they can rapidly implement. Consider bundling a theme with a pre-built Wordpress site that includes things like SEO optimization plugins, privacy policies, etc. Then, sell the pre-built site with a premium theme instead of a just a theme. If all that makes your designer head spin, find a marketer to join up with and split the proceeds. I've had many people willing to pay me $65 to just do the installation work itself and, when replicating from a pre-built site, it takes about 30 minutes.
