  7. Open the functions.php file
  8. Find the number 10. Change it 15.

  10. Upload the edited sidebar_3.php and functions.php file to see the change.

How to add more non-widget-ready sidebars:

  2. Next, for every new sidebar, remove:
    <?php if ( function_exists(’dynamic_sidebar’) && dynamic_sidebar() ) : else : ?> and <?php endif; ?>

How to use the pre-defined advertisement styles and files:

  • Place your codes within the ads_728×90.php, ads_468×60.php, or ads_inline.php file.
  • If you’re using the 468 or Inline ads, include them on your pages by using <div class=”ads_your_choice_here”><?php include(TEMPLATEPATH . ‘/ads_your_choice_here.php’); ?></div>

Thanks for the email notification and the release , SP!

Good Job! I Digg it!
I’m trying it now in one of my websites..

You’re the best SP!

Very nice, and dugg. :)

It’s only a personal opinion, but if you added in a stylised date block, like those highlighted on this post, and maybe bullets for the right-hand sidebar lists, then would you have a chart topper!

Just my two pence! ;)

Is very good theme, i like it.

The two side panels show up first in HTML. Isn’t that more search engine friendly if the middle (main) panel appears first?

That’s true, but I had to place theme before the main column to easily rotate them.

Matt:

Lovely theme, I’m about to use it as a static design for a site of mine :) So I’ll be just taking the source code and changing it to my liking :)

Could you give us the header .psd please?

Thanks :)

Thanks Matt, but the header is just a 970×110 jpg image. Plus, your site is not about Greed is it? ;-)

30 sidebars? And you want me to believe you have nothing to do. :)

Now I’m off to download, upload, install, and get to work on. Thanx.

Wow! This is the works, will try to see which blog I will put this into. Thanks!

You are a rockstar!

Awesome theme. Jesse is right :-) Gotta see, which site of mine goes live with this theme :-)

Cheers!

I like the theme so tried it out. I had one problem, when on a single post page or comments page it would stretch the first comment out to the bottom of the sidebars.

@SP: I’m using your greed theme now, I’m trying to modify something. I tried to integrate the iTheme calendar but something went wrong can you help me on this? I think I mess-up the css file..

can you also tell me how to change the color of the sidebar header. Thanks a bunch!

here’s the site I’m talking about..
http://payscrib.page.ph

LazyAssGeek:

The file you need to change for the sidebar header is bg_h2_a.gif. It’s a vertical gradient blend 1 pixel wide and repeated to fill the cell. In the style.php look for that filename to see the section you’d need to change. I created a replacement gif for that one.

While I’m at it, great layout SP. The colors don’t fit what I was looking for but the look nails it. Thanks!

Hi again, Small Potato. I just wanted to show you how I used Greed for the main blog in my kids’ school site (runs on WPMU).

The sidebars were just perfect for creating blocks of headlines. Each block is actually the latest entries in a particular category. :)

Nice Greed mod Connie. I actually saw HedCen before following your comment link and wanted to highlight it as one of the better modifications at a later time.

Thanks, Small Potato. Am looking forward to Pride. :)

ddf1230:

This is in response to JeffA who had the problem, “when on a single post page or comments page it would stretch the first comment out to the bottom of the sidebars.”

I had the same problem, but only for people who had already commented. Turns out it was a problem with the WP Ajax Edit Comments plugin. I believe it was doing something that was making the width to be too wide, but I haven’t yet taken the time to find it. Instead, I just disabled the plugin for now. But if you aren’t using that plugin, I’d be looking at something that might be causing a width issue.

mikes:

great work!

mrjade:

Is there a problem with latest download for the Greed Theme?

The styles does not apply after I copy the theme to /wp-content/themes/

I can only see the text in plain white background. Is anyone else having the problem.

Several other people have the same problem, but not everyone.

I tried installing this theme before I went on to Pride. I like this one, but it wouldn’t work. When I enabled it, the entire site was style-less. Do you know why?

I don’t know what the problem is. It doesn’t happen to every 2.2 blog. I have a running 2.2 blog and it’s working fine. Are you using 2.2?

If you can’t solve the problem, contact me for the original stylesheet. That seems to fix it for most users.

@Teryn: Generally speaking, this happens for one of two reasons.

1. The stylesheet got corrupted during the upload. This can be easily fixed by re-uploading it, or by choosing a different method of upload in your FTP client - i.e. binary if you tried ascii, or vice versa.

2. The problem sometimes occurs when WP is installed to a sub-directory. This only usually happens if the server hosting the install is Windows-based.

Hope this helps!

mrJade:

i have wp 2.2.

my files are not corrupted after checking them on the server.

wp is not in a subdirectory.

please send me the old stylesheet. i’ll test that out to see if that works.

thanks!

My Wordpress is 2.2, it was installed - not upgraded.
Thanks for the info.

Cute and simple, I like it

Small Potato — thanks for another great theme in Greed. We’ve have just deployed Greed Light and modified it to suit our style. See it at http://www.RichardCravy.com. We are very pleased. Previously we had been using your Sleepy theme.

Thanks Richard - Your customizations look really good.

Hi Son (Small Potato) ;)
I like the Greed theme. I know you have spent many days working on it. And we really appreciate the efforts you put in behind you theme.

Though, do we see a similar theme in a different color. No doubt i LIKE this theme, but green ain’t my color.

If something is coming then good, else i guess i have to go through your tutorials and try changing the colors myself! :) Thanks

Hey Sharat,

You’re gonna have to. I’m not working on Greed anymore (at this time).

Alright Son
I will go through your tutorials to start with :) I guess major changes would be thru css file.
If i am succesful in making something good, i will definitely let you know about it! Else….you can understand that your friend Sharat ain’t a good coder at all. ;)
Also when are the next SINS theme coming?

@Sharat - before this month ends

Alright Will be waiting for it
The month’s end is almost here ;)
But seriously waiting for a theme with lot of space just for content. No sidebars, only bottombar.

Probably the “Lust” SIN theme can have that!
Something like that coming?

I’m trying to hurry, but can’t finish these themes fast enough.

Hey great theme,
how can I remove the RSS button? - I have added my own but I don’t want the one that is alredy there,

thanks,

Matt

Matt - Replace the rss button in the “images” folder with your own.

I looked through the images folder, there doesn’t seem to be an RSS button there, do you know what the name of the file is?

Thanks

Matt

Are you sure? It’s icon_rss.gif.

Sorry One more thing, is it possible to remove the ‘bottom side bar’?

help much appreciated,

Matt

Matt - Download the light version, it comes without the bottom sidebars activated. If you have other questions, please post it at the forums. Thanks.

Thank You for the Great Theme! Now all to do is to fill up those sidebars with some good content!

It’s a nice theme. And the colors are very ok. Good

Tim:

Bit confused about the 3 to 5 column thing. How can I make the theme show 4 columns? All I seem to be able to do is create further link blocks down the bottom.
Really want left sidebar, content, right sidebar and then another right sidebar for skyscraper ads.
Anyone can help?

That’s not possible if you don’t tear apart the entire theme for another right sidebar.

Tim:

ah ok, what does the 3-5 column thing refer to then?

three main columns + 2 inner columns

Donna:

I discovered that an old implementation of widgets was conflicting with the sidebars when I upgraded to 2.2 (no longer using widgets). So I downloaded, installed, and activated the Disable WordPress Plugins plugin - http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/disable-wordpress-widgets/

That did the trick for me. Works great with 2.2 now.

My guess is that if you never used the widgets before, there’s no problem. But if you once used widgets, and then stopped using widgets, and then upgraded to 2.2, the old implementation of widgets is interacting with the sidebars and mucking things up.

I think you could’ve simply change the name of the functions.php file :)

Thank You for the Great Theme! Now all to do is to fill up those sidebars with some good content!

Hi Small Potato! Thanks for great skin. But i have small problem, like some people before me. I tried installing this theme, but the entire site was style-less. I tried copy content of style.php to style.css - then style worked, but i think that this is not correst solution:) I tried that on WP 2.1 and 2.3
Thanks for answer:)

Small Potato,

I am a big fan of your theme. I recently updated to WP 2.3.1 and there seems to be some problems. The main index page looks fine, but the posts and pages cut off at the bottom so the footer is not visible. On post pages, the page cuts off at where the comments field should be.

Do you have any patches or suggestions to fix this?

thanks!

No problem for me !

First of all, you have my admiration and praise for being so good at your templates. I have a very simple question, but then again I am astonishingly ignorant on these things.

I managed to get the changes made and it looks fine, but I am totally lost on the bottom segment which shows all the LINK TITLES and such in what I take to be 10 very dark columns. How do I remove those?

Thanks so much!!!
