You Decide The Next Theme!
The recently released Greed WordPress theme is a part of a theme series called, Seven Deadly Sins. I’m ready to work on the next theme. Now, I need you to decide…
Which sin should the next theme be?
- Pride (39%)
- Lust (24%)
- Wrath (13%)
- Envy (11%)
- Gluttony (9%)
- Sloth (4%)
Total Votes: 54
While I was stuck at the down-town juror parking lot, just bored out of my mind, I came up with an idea. Why not make this theme series a collaborative effort and allow my readers to participate? It would be interesting (if not fun) to see our ideas and personalities mesh and come to life through design.
You’ll get to do more than just pick the next topic. From basic layout, to design features, and which plugins to integrate, you’ll get to make most of the decisions.
Along with this poll, you can make other suggestions by posting comments. Here are some questions to think about:
- What are some of your favorite sites / designs?
- Any interesting WordPress or blog features that you want for your own blog?
- More importantly, how many columns should the next theme have?

Ok.. some of my favorite plugins include threaded comments - but for some reason, it is breaking in greed. I also love WPG2 - and have to integrate all the time with each theme - and it still doesn’t work right. I also like the ability to turn off comments and sidebars on pages without making it look funky (more website like).
Oh… and I like the Custom Header option like in Misty-Look and on some wordpress.com themes.
I tested Brian’s comment plugin, but couldn’t get it to work right in Internet Explorer. I think the main problem was that the middle column of Greed is fluid. Once you apply “clear: both” within the middle column, it messes up the layout. I haven’t use tested WPG2
SP,
You’ve already done “Greed”, replace that option with “Sloth”.
And for Sloth. Barely formatted, few features, and any time the blogger does not post anything for a day random text is posted for him.
Sorry about that. Thanks for spotting my mistake!
…love your idea for sloth
I voted Envy, my idea would be taking people’s favorite features off a variety of themes and combining them. Maybe you could even use your favorite things about the themes that have been sent to you for WPD.com and just use those. I mean, you always seem to have one or two things you really like about the theme and one point where it could be improved, so something made by you based off your own tips could be a pretty awesome theme. Just an idea.
Potato, 3 columns pleeeeeeeeeeease and with the tabs on top (sliding doors?).
Please, please, please, please …. with a cookie? Pleeeeease.
I voted Pride

If i could tell you how I would like my blog’s theme to be.. we could spend an entire day dealing with it.
( But if you decide to waste some time and some work, you can do it coding a theme for me
I’d go with Envy.
It would be so awesome to have a great looking and functional photoblog for a wordpress theme. Something elegant and artistic, but functional. With an emphasis on the photo being presented, and with an archive where you can post all kinds of links and other useful stuff for photo envy of all to see
I also voted pride.
I prefer the three-columns layout.
I would love the following option/plugin added (maybe it already exists… does anybody know?): the possibility to have different “kinds” of categories, for instance a first block of categories related to the subject of the post, a second one related to different topics, another related to the authors of the posts and so on… each category might have a different space in the sidebar.
I voted for Lust. I’d like to see a theme with really super shiney buttons, sidebars, etc, with really bold and fierce colors.
I voted for Envy as I would like my blog theme to be envied upon:)lol..though I would like to see all of them.
I wanted to close the poll so I could start sketching the next theme, but it’s really close right now between Pride and Lust.
I voted for “Pride” but that’s secondary. Thanks for allowing us to suggest.
My suggestions:
Something will all the columns of Greed but with the center (main) panel showing up first in HTML…
Easy to change colors (perhaps include the PSD files?)… you know, so I can use one theme for all my blogs but each one sporting a different color.
I wish. I wish. I wish.
@Connie - I’ll consider releasing the psd if it’s the theme is not graphic intensive. Releasing the psd is not something I’d usually do.
I closed the poll because Pride clearly won the race. Sorry to the Lust voters, Lust will have to wait.
I’ll take all your suggestions into consideration, go sketch, and will have the sketch posted by late today or tomorrow morning.
Thank you for voting!
I’d like to see something like this:
To semplify, consider to vertically split the main page in two halves, left side for the content, right side for the link, badges, navigations etc.
In the content side, the theme should show the entire last post, plus the excerpt of the previous ones below.
Single post page shows the entire post + excerpt of “related posts” ( may require a plugin? ).
I also imagine customizable header, a footer and general fluid layout.
Dark scheme, withe background.
I hope this is a usefull suggestion
i voted Pride!
Thanks, Small Potato. Am still tweaking Greed and will hopefully be able to install it in hedcen.com tonight.
hello sp, i vote for pride them.
I really like the greed theme and this post is a little old (and I am new here) so what was the next theme in the series? Has it been started yet?
cheers.
goldcoaster - pride, lust, and wrath have been released.
So it’s gonna be Sloth
Generic prozac.
Generic prozac. Generic name for prozac. generic prozac.
My fav is the Damai and the Langit, themes. The langit would be a lot better had it been a wee bit wider just like the Damai. I can suggest some themes on my own imagination, but the only problem is that I cant tell css from html. Although I have gone thru a lot to customise the plugins and integrate WPG2 into my blog. but thats about it….
