Final SDS Suggestions, Have Your Say

To speed up the process for the Seven Deadly Sins (SDS) theme series, I’m making this post to get the final batch of suggestions for those upcoming themes. I want to get all of them released within this month and taking suggestions one by one is not going to cut it.
The next theme will be Lust, then Wrath, Envy, Gluttony, and finally Sloth. Please post your suggestions through commenting and label which theme your suggestion is for. For example:
“Lust: I think it should have…”
I love how sloth is last!
I think gluttony should have as many colors as possible in it, or at least in some bits, without over doing it. Something like additions of bars like the top bit of veerle.duoh.com

I think Lust should be a very feminine theme with lots of “link love” sociable type things included.
I think Envy should be in greens (naturally) with lots of “incoming link” type things – that would make other’s envious of those that show up there.
I think Wrath should be very a dark theme.
Wrath is a very angry idea, very fiery. So I disagree with Kim. I think it should be reds and oranges. Possibly dark reds and oranges to compromise?
Sloth should be an almost naked theme. Nearly a sandbox.
Gluttony should be the roundest theme you can come up with. Bulging bellies and such.
Lust I agreed with Kim that it should be feminine, with pink/purple/red.
It should have an iconic little red dress at the bottom of the page. Just laying in a pile on the floor. I’ll be happy to mock this up for you if you want.
Lust will need sleek curves. I’m seeing a combination of high contrast colors. Maybe pink against black. Just make sure its curvy.
Sloth: Just enough to post and show a single post.

Agreed, although I think red and purple (and maybe hot pink?) would be perfect. Deep, sultry colors. NO pastels. Maybe a steamy/watery effect somewhere, too. Definitely curves! (I’ve got all sorts of ideas, but don’t really know how to implement what’s in my mind’s eye.)
Wrath: Sharp lines, NO curves/rounded edges–maybe like a shattered effect. Red/orange, fiery look, with black (the “black heart” metaphor). Edges should be distinctive, jagged(?). Make it angry-looking–people will go for the “angry” look (just look around some political blogs!).
Sloth: Think sleep, or “fuzzy.” Black? Yeah, I know, everyone including me hates light text on black. Light grey on charcoal? Maybe fuzzy edges? I wouldn’t go too minimalist, though, or it will convey nothing. Sloth isn’t “nothing”–believe me, I’m a connoiseur of sloth.
Envy: Definitely green, but a strong green. Maybe with some yellow or orange, although green + orange can be difficult to pull off unless the perfect shades are used. Maybe you can find a good palette at ColourLovers.

Lust is not about sex, lust is about desire. Lust is an overwhelming need that cripples the senses and overturns sensibility. Lust is the desire to possess and control, to make of a thing exclusively yours. Yours not because it has any value, but because you have to have it.

Lust is a hunger that cannot be sated, a thirst that cannot be eased. Lust is a man seeking out every last copy of a rare manuscript so he can cackle and chortle as priceless knowledge rots away in dank, dripping caverns lit only by cheap florescents and sputtering candles.
Lust is the need to have a thing all to yourself, regardless of what that thing might be. To own it, to control it, to deny it to anyone else. Lust has fuck-all to do with sex.
You wish to understand lust consider first those with irrational desires and destructive needs. It is there, there in the obsessed and the crazed, there in the possessive and the controlling that you’ll find lust.
Obsession, control, the need to have, the need to possess and control, that is what defines lust. That is what a theme must mirror to be a symbol of lust.
I agree with sahil I think so that gluttony should have as many colors as possible.
I think Lust should be a very hot theme. you should use red as principal color .
Why not try breaking the status quo and use something like a strong orange for lust instead of the normal reds/pinks.
@Alan – I’m not a graphic designer. It’ll probably take me weeks to express something like that with rounded corners
