Micro-Redesign

Wpdesigner is getting a micro-redesign. Your blog should get one too. Simple tweaks, additions, and subtractions can do wonders for your blog. In Wpdesigner’s case, this micro-redesign is another step toward de-cluttering. Preview the upcoming design here. It’s not much different from the current Wpdesigner. But all together, the small changes make a big difference.
New Logo - If you’re a loyal reader, you know Wpdesigner lacks identity so I’m adding a logo to help this blog become more recognizable and memorable for new visitors. And if you know me, you know I’m not a graphic designer. Based on circles and gradients, that little figure is my best attempt at a logo. But give credit where credit is due, I couldn’t have done it without Nur of Nomad-One.com. He came through with the concept and style for this logo. What I’ll be using for Wpdesigner’s logo is only a fraction and combination of everything he sent me.
Simple Navigation - Instead of trying to pack as many links into the horizontal menu as possible, I decided to bring it down to six links and add more spacing around each menu item. For one thing, your mind typically holds seven items at a time. Therefore, having more than seven items within one group of links will not do much good if you can’t remember them.
The result is a simpler and more balanced horizontal menu.
I like the general use of gradients in the whole theme, not just the logo. Soft and subtle, but they give a nice touch without taking over and distracting from what’s important.
The changes are looking great!

Great logo. I think it might have been awesome if the mouth was an orange circle…. but you might not want to associate wpdesigner with small potato… or do you?

In regards to your header area you posted, could I suggest maybe show your rss feed icon?
Jermayn - The rss icon is actually lost in the navigation menu. Before coding, I’ll change the color of the rss icon image to make it pop. Thanks Jermayn.
Hey hey hey, wpdesigner is definitely gonna look great with these changes. Just so everyone knows though more credit should be given to SP with the logo, I provided some intial visuals and some tweaks to that based on SP’s concept he sent me and most of what you see is SP’s design, he’s a real humble one. Logo is looking good, though I’d suggest giving the file to me so I can give it a bit of a clean up.
You’re gonna struggle a little with it if you ever need to use the logo on it’s own though, right now it’s fine cut off at the bottom but at some stage you’ll need to use it with white space underneath, and then it’ll need to be finished off. Send me the file and I’ll see if I can add the final touch.

I did not even notice the rss icon to be truthly honest. A nice bright colour could fix that though
napster-ish? nah, that logo is straight up Tokyo Plastic \m/
i concur with any comments recommending colored icons. otherwise, looks good.
