Gluttony Revision 1

Small Potato

Gluttony’s expandable food menu looked too much like one of my previous themes (Braintied) so I tweaked it and somehow ended up with a two column theme.

Unless I change my mind to do another revision, I’m finished with the basic layout. Next is adding the details and coloring it. I have an idea of what I want, but it’s not clear. It should look warm and earthy at the same time. However, yellow, green, and brown might not be the best combination for this layout. Check out the revision.

Have you ever considered creating any K2 styles/mods?

I have, but going through K2 is painful because my PHP knowledge is very limited. I prefer something like Sandbox.

The theme is coming along nicely. So far I’m liking everything. I’ve actually been looking for a good way to collect recipes and I don’t want to buy software for it.

As far as the coloring, I think the warm tones would be great, maybe less earthy and more…like a cornucopia of autumn vegetables? That’s just what I’d like to see.

I can’t wait for it to come out.

SP, had a question for you. Whats your opinion on providing variables within CSS to allow anyone to change the theme colors by using variables?

Yeah thats really neat. I think it would be good for blogs to have expandable posts, it would really help keep big blogs less cluttered. Why not have expandable categories too while your at it?

I think an expandable sidebar might be too much, but that could benefit blogs with high number of categories.

@Kanwal – I tried CSS with variables and theme options with the Greed theme. It didn’t work out well :)

Are you thinking in the possibility of instead putting the sidebar at left or right, put it in the bottom?

I like it a lot. I just me someone who is starting a “wheels on meals” type of business. I think this type of design would be great for them. Good job on this one!

Oh yeah! This is a good one. Please keep the gray color scheme. I am daydreaming about using Gluttony and upping my cool factor.

I have too many categories and can’t have them in the sidebar anyway, so I don’t care one way or the other about that. However, I wonder what it would function like if the side bar was on the bottom to put ads and blogrolls.

I am also wondering if it will be obvious to my visitors that they need to expand to see more.

I like the theme idea a lot. If there was an option to set the top post or top few to show an excerpt and that post picture, like a featured post or something, then I think it would be great…at least that would be my wishlist thing for it.
