Launching Themes Club: Happy $5 Year!

The $5 themes club is finally here. You can preview the first theme, Gossip, now. More club themes will be up for download within this week. Preview two of the upcoming themes.

What is this club?

This is a WordPress themes club. You pay $5 per year for unlimited access / downloads. Each year, you’re guaranteed at least 12 themes.

What are you allowed to do with the club themes?

You do not need a developer license to use the club themes for your clients. And, you may use your club themes on as many sites as you wish. Basically, just don’t resell, give them away for free, and / or claim that you’ve created them. Here’s the terms and conditions page.

No Add-ons and Hidden Fees

There’s no copyright or credit removal to purchase or add on to the $5. You pay $5 for the whole year. That’s it. The club themes come without copyright labels or links. In fact, the only trace of Wpdesigner and yours truly is on two short lines in the style.css file.

Themes Support

There are two ways to get help. The first one is through the ticket system from your themes club account. The second one is through the forums, where you’d usually get a faster response because multiple people would be viewing your question at the same time.

All accounts are activated manually. I’ll do it as soon as possible, but please allow at most 12 hours for your account to get activated. Thank you for your patience.

Tell A Blogger

If you don’t absolutely love the idea of spending $5 for a whole year of products and services then don’t mention it to anyone. On the other hand, if you do love it then please get the word out.

For those waiting on the media / press package to help spread the news about this themes club, thank you so much for understanding. I’ve been busy for the last 24 hours setting this club up and right now I need some shut eyes. The media package will be ready by today; among other related topics and files, it’ll include a detailed look at this club’s future.

Update: The press package is ready, but I’m half asleep. I will double check and put it up for download to morrow.

What's Next?
Bilal:

Thanks a lot..I’m a member of club now..I spread the club soon..

huzzah…its finally here!

Sweet club, you do deserve some shut eye!

By the way…and this is my own personal opinion….you might want to think about strengthening your terms and conditions. I just get the feeling that your very relaxed attitude (which is definitely cool) might come back to bite you in the ass. I think you can have the same approach if you use a Creative Commons license. Just my .02 cents.

[...] Wow, it must be a field day for those looking for some cool Premium Themes as iThemes.com and WPdesigner decided to release Premium WordPress Themes.iThemes launched today with their very first theme called “Essence” which comes in a variety of 5 colors – Gold, Dark, Red, Silver and Blue, while Small Potato of WPdesigner has released the Gossip Theme for his newly launched WordPress Themes Club. Just signed up and in the process of publishing a post about the $5 Themes Club. :)

Hi,

I would love to sign up, but the sign up page is not secure. (https://) Someone could monitor the site headers and packets and grab my paypal information.

Is there a way to pay and sign up without using that link?

Please let me know.
Thanks.

I am so much excited… I Just signed up. $5 is nothing for theme club. I am sure that I will have good learning experience with you.

Brandon – The payment page sends you to a secured page hosted by PayPal, not my own site.

@Brandon

You scared me. I think PayPal gateway is be safe even if you go through normal procedure.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

sachin – Paypal.com handled your payment, not Wpdesigner.com. The PayPal page has SSL encryption or https://, which is what Brandon was looking for.

The sign up process at Wpdesigner.com is only for setting up your account and password to login.

Hi Small Potato,

Sorry for that I thought it was passing that data through the sign-up form into Paypal.

I’ll just create a separate account for wpdesigner.

My apologies.

No problem :)

This is pretty awesome. I’ll sign up ASAP and then blog about it once I get the press package.

Good work SP!

I don’t even know what I get, but I’ve signed up simply to show support. Good luck, and thanks small potato.

Thanks Michael.

@Nick – Thanks man. Your support is much appreciated. If you follow the download instructions, you’ll find what you’ve paid for :)

Specifically, here’s what you’re downloading at first.

All signed up and will try and make a post this evening.

Hello,

I am very excited about the club, but you don’t have to have WHMCS just for taking orders… you can do the same exact thing for free using paypal.

WHMCS handles the downloads :)

I’m very excited. I’m looking forward to activate my account and for “press package” to share with others.

Keep up good work!

Waiting for the press package before I publish my post. :)

Icyone:

Sweet…Just signed up. I’m so excited

[...] If a web designer like Small Potato is an architect, I guess that would make me a kitchen and bath remodeler. My abilities, and time constraints, only go so far and it is because of these facts that I’m extremely appreciative to designers who occasionally throw guys like me a bone. SP is just that kind of guy who goes out of his way to make sure that his WordPress theme portfolio has a nice balance between free and premium themes. While many of his contemporaries are churning out premium theme after premium theme, SP has taken a slightly different approach and started a “Theme Club” [...]

I’ll be joining soon, I really like the looks of the Personal theme. I’m a little confused on one condition, though. If I’m hosting a blog for someone but they own the domain, am I still allowed to use one of the Theme Club themes on their blog? In this situation your Terms and Conditions and this post seem to contradict each other.

Way cool, potato! Just signed up – looking forward to what you’ve got in store for us!

Thanks, man!

What do you mean by hosting the blog for that person Kenneth? Literally hosting it on your server or blogging for them?

Let’s make things less complicated…

As long as the person that haven’t paid for the club doesn’t get access to the theme files, you’re ok.

@Small Potato: I’ll be hosting their blog on my webhosting account, so as long as they don’t have FTP access and don’t have access to the theme files through WordPress, that should be fine. Thanks for the clarification.

I would like to have it in my blog www[dot]slr-d[dot]com. Is there any plugin or we have to create it.

Thank you.

[...] Potatoes, the designer of the theme I’m using on this blog, has realeased a FIVE DOLLAR theme club. Yeah, you read that right. $5 for at least 12 professionally designed and very slick themes over [...]

Abeku – There are many ways to do that. You could:

1. Post an image with every post and place class=”alignleft” within every image to make them align left.
2. Use custom fields with every post. The custom fields would call for the location of the image addresses.
3. Use a plugin to create a gallery.

Such a great price as well. I would’ve paid $10 for this in a flash (and you would’ve doubled your profit – but that’s not the idea right?).
