LaunchPad WordPress Theme

From Ian Stewart, LaunchPad is a unique theme originally built for domain parking or blogs not yet ready to debut.
I’m featuring it because it’s a little bit more than just domain parking. I like it because it gives the visitors the option to subscribe to your feed before the actual launch date. If you have a loyal following and are planning on launching a new blog, this would be perfect for you.
This theme is also useful for when your blog’s under maintenance and you need to close it down for a while.
For the less tech-savvy blogger, all you’ll need to do is set up your Feedburner feed and put in its ID through LaunchPad’s theme option page.

I never thought of using LaunchPad as a maintenance page. Good idea.
Very nice. I once spent a terrible amount of time trying to hack the maintenance mode plugin to do this sorta thing. If I had had this I coulda saved myself a ton of time.

It does look VERY nice, but I don’t think it will work for everyone. Me for example; I am planning on making a WordPress Blog and should be releasing it soon, I have the domain, hosting, and theme coded, but I am not that well known in the wordpress theme to be able to pull off something like this. Thats why I must release the full site at once.
I think its great, but I don’t know how effective it will be to people just starting out in the wordprses scene.

Ok, I´m developing a new website, and I figure it out to use part of the code of this theme and place it inside the mantainance mode plugin.
It will work better, because this theme won´t let you work with your site if you activate it, but the mantainance mode plugin does, the con of using mantainance mode out of box is that it has an ugly design, but the plugin has an admin section where you can enter some HTML code to make it look better.
At the end I finished with something like this:

I´m using the maintanance mode plugin with a splash screen design plus the Launch Pad functionality.
And I can still enter as an Admin to the site an keep working on it, while is in stand by mode for everybody.
So, at the end, it´s a nice combo ; )
