Wpdesigner.com Is For Sale

Although April Fools is less than a month away, this is not a joke. I’m selling Wpdesigner.com.

Why Sell?

Before I give you my reason, I want to thank you for reading this blog and thank you for all of the support you’ve given Wpdesigner.com in general and me in particular. With everything that has been going on with Wpdesigner and the fact that it finally ranks #1 on the Top 40 WordPress blogs list, I know it seems like a weird time to be selling.

Of course, it wasn’t easy for me to come to this, but I’m selling for personal reasons. If it wasn’t for changes in my personal life, it wouldn’t make sense to sell this site at all. Wpdesigner.com has been my livelihood, personal project, and baby :) for the last 2 years.

If you’ve been reading this blog and my personal blog, you know the first and main reason is I’ll be traveling abroad for the rest of this year. Initially, I was hoping I could juggle traveling, maintaining this blog, and continue creating WordPress themes, but that’s more than likely not the case. Because of that, I’d rather hand Wpdesigner.com to a solid team of developers with enough man hours and better management skills to do this site justice.

Second reason is I’m at a crossroad in life. In the last two months, I changed my love and family lives. Now, it’s time to make career choices; I don’t have to, but I want to make a change. Although I still have the desire to compete with fellow WordPress theme authors, I would love to have the time and opportunities to explore and actually get away from the computer (my lower back acts like it’s 90 years old, but it’s actually 21). Letting go of Wpdesigner, sadly, will leave room for me to do that. (I’ll probably become a fisherman at one of the Thailand islands. I kid. I kid.)

Third reason is I don’t like giving theme support. Hahaha.

The alternative to selling this blog is hiring a team or outsource all of the tasks while I’m traveling, but I don’t have the money to hire anyone and I’m not interested in managing anyone. I’ve always been a one-man team and I’m not ready to play nice. And having me as a boss would definitely suck!

What Does This Mean for You?

I’ll try to get the right buyer so you’ll continue to get high quality WordPress themes and tutorials. More than likely, my absence will be the only change. If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been preparing this blog for my absence by inviting guest bloggers to write for Wpdesigner.com.

Update: Many of you asked me what would happen to the themes club. I don’t plan on cutting the themes club short and will try my best to keep it going. If the new owner absolutely will not continue the club (unlikely), the worst case scenario is everyone would get a refund.

Its really sad. but a few decisions in life are bitter. As a themes club member I hope the new team will not dissappoint us :( I was really taken aback seeing the site listed in Sitepoint and DP forums.

best of luck for your future and thanks for all those wonderful themes.

Bilal:

Im sorry..really im sad to hear that.i remember long time ago i saw a pic of guy who has an orange in his mouth and its helps me to remember this guy when i see the same pic in wpthemes.i hope u choose the best decision for your career…

You said you’ll answer all questions in the morning.so let me ask what’ll happen to the club members :) Thanks 4 everything..have a nice trip..

Chris:

And the wordpress themes (1 per month) for club members?

Lucky I caught your questions right now while I’m watching youtube instead of sleeping hahaha. I’ll try to get the new owner to continue the themes club. If that’s not possible, I’ll probably issue a refund.

I was quite looking forward to getting my full full dollars worth from the theme club! :) I’ll wish you the best of luck with everything though, hopefully it goes for the right price.

Sorry to hear about this - just saw your listing on SP. Best of luck to you with your sales, and your travels abroad.

Thats sad to hear man. But im sure you could juggle it. But i dont know.

But how about releasing the wordpress theme you have now for a club theme? Maybe i guess, i dunno. Its worth a shot.

What, Oh My, that’s a shock. But why sell … why not give it away for free? :)

ooooooooooooh thats a shocking news !!! I would expect a change in your decision :(

SP, the WordPress community won’t be the same without you.

On the other hand, you’re 21 and you’re life is ahead of you. From my experience I can tell you, GO FOR IT!

Sell the site, get a good price and rock on man.

I hope you continue blogging, and designing in general. You don’t need to do just WordPress ya know. HTML & CSS rock by themselves too!

@Hyder - Thanks buddy.

thanks for all your work on this site.
go well with future plans.

I only just subscribed, but good luck with the sale. Hopefully the new owner(s) won’t have me miss out on the quality of content you provided.

It’s all a marketing trick. He got around 6600 dollars from 1320 members by simply selling the theme membership for 5 dollars. I also purchased it but disappointed after hearing this news.

@Anand - Marketing trick? If you know me, I’m not that smart. Over 400 of those 1320 members are paying members. I started the themes club because I was bored of working for free and truly believe the club is the future of WordPress themes.

and If I buy I can find a way to continue the theme club.

AndrewE:

SP regardless of your motives behind this move, you know as well as everyone else that cutting your theme club short was clearly going to be an unpopular decision. In financial terms your timing is terribly poor. Had you honoured you 12 theme deal and then sold WPDesigner, you’d be in a much stronger selling position and you’d have been able to raise the price tag accordingly.

Yeah so the world ain’t perfect and life never gets any easier. Despite our best efforts, we usually end up learning the hard way. I just hope that this decision doesn’t come back to haunt you in a business sense. Chances are it’ll all be forgotten in a matter of weeks, by which time you’ll be driking pina coladas in Thai paradise. But as the saying goes, you reap what you sew.

Good luck and I look forward to following your next web incarnation.

SP, where will you be hosting your Showcase Theme for sale after you sell the blog?

Because I do plan on buying a license soon.

Thanks.

Hey SM,
I’ve never interacted with you but you seem like a nice guy. I hope you find your happiness wherever you go.
In case you find your way into India, do email me. I’d love to be of any help.

Cheers!
Sanjeev

PS: I don’t think someone else might be able to do justice to your theme club. And frankly, $5 is nothing compared to the knowledge gained from your blog. Refund or No-Refund, i’ll be happy :-)

Andrew - Even with this sale in mind, I wasn’t planning on cutting the themes club short. I’ll try my best to keep the club going because I really believe in that idea. Worst case scenario is everyone will get a refund, which is not bad considering every club member has gotten 4 themes and original psd files to go along with them.

@Hyder - You’ll have to contact me for that. More than likely, I’ll sign a non-compete agreement so the new owner doesn’t have to worry about me starting another site to compete with this one.

@Shanjeev - Thanks. You just gave me another reason to come to India.

To everyone else: Again, I don’t planning on cutting the themes club short. That didn’t even cross my mind, which is why I didn’t include it in the description for selling Wpdesigner.com.

[…] Wpdesigner.com Is For Sale: Salah satu tempatnya theme WordPress yang keren-keren ternyata mau dijual oleh pengelolanya. Ada yang mau beli? (via WPCandy). […]

You cant help but chuckle at people who are mad at spending $5, i mean seriously - one decent theme for that is a complete steal, let alone 12… You guys should be grateful!

Good Luck on your travels mate!

Luck for u in the future.however what u do^_^

Best of luck in the future, SP! You’re creative and hardworking, I’m sure you’ll do well.

I hope you make a killing on the auction!

Lachy:

Hey,

Im trying to figure out how i could buy this, if i can im going to continue premium themes, theme clubs and free themes. Im just trying to figure out how to get more than 15k! If Smallpotato is interested in selling to a wp developer email me!

Cheers

My mistake SP. Apologies for jumping the gun. Whatever you decide, I’m really not worried about refunds etc. I’d just like to see all your hard work be given the justice it deserves. Accept no imitations :)

Peace brother.

selling it? Why not hand it over to someone to manage it until you can take it back :)

no edit button ;[
so I will just go ahead and say it:

The alternative to selling this blog is hiring a team or outsource all of the tasks while I’m traveling, but I don’t have the money to hire anyone and I’m not interested in managing anyone. I’ve always been a one-man team and I’m not ready to play nice. And having me as a boss would definitely suck!

that is exactly what I mean. Honestly why would you need to charge money?! if the person running it was given permission to sell his/her QUALITY themes under the wpdesigner name, that would be enough. Well… I honestly know i’m not a big name, or anyone that you see out in the wordpress community, but I work with wordpress daily, and read about it daily. I know the nicks and nacks of it, and if you were willing, I would love to help out with the site until you come back to it.

Remember, I invited you to India once :)

WPDesigner Being Sold: Would you buy it?

I think the word around WordPress town, seems to be Small Potato’s decision to sell his beloved WPDesigner.com. Many of you will remember my infamous falling out with SP last year October and ever since that day I have not mentioned SP or WPDesig…

AndrewE:

@Adii - you think you have it all figured out do you? You’re a joke. A spineless opportunist, out to make a fast buck. In many ways I resent SP’s decision to sell his site simply because he won’t be around to keep ’superstars’ like you in check. Shame on you for sticking the knife in right at the last minute.

Good luck SP! Have fun in your travels and learn to swim!

Lachy:

I kept on thinking SP was sitepoint and i was confused lmao!

SP, one thing though about that non-compete clause. Make sure that you sign it only for a certain length of time, like one year or so, NOT your entire lifetime.

Trust me, you might want to come back to this one day. Don’t let a piece of paper hold you back then.

It’s a shame to see ya go SP, but if it’s what’s best for you, then I suppose it’s a good thing. :(

49 free themes is almost scary! I hadn’t realised that you had so many. That will deservedly crank the price up a good bit. I think you’re going to miss designing though… :(

Good luck for your projects !

justin:

this site had/has potential to be a well funded career for you and your family and keep you from a day job. You can carry your work with you, I dont understand why you would throw this away. Blog less often, ad advertisement space, hire some people to contribute to your themes club or start a contest for this with a small payout. Your leaving a good thing and only you will understand why. *in my eyes*

Nate:

This is a shocker, but I have often thought to myself to drop anything that has to deal with staring at a computer screen all day. So basically, at the end I understand your decision.

Definitely keep my $5. Consider it a donation, of course I feel I owe you more than $5 with all the site reviews you’ve done for me. :)

Also, do yourself a favor: don’t sell wpdesigner.com to idiots like adii.

Lastly, good luck to you on your travels and whatever else you decide to do afterwards.

Take care SP.

Getting away from the computer, away from support emails, having adventures in exotic foreign countries…..?

Man, you’re living the life I want.

Good luck to you.

There is reallynothing, I repeat, nothing wrong with being a fisher in Thailand. And a Singha beer of course after a hard day work.

Good luck, have fun.

what a shame, wish you a better life.

SO SAD! I just found you and really value the information you have shared . It’s helping me get my 1st WordPress site off the ground. Good luck on your adventure throughout the coming year and on the sale of this website.

stan:

oh my SP, what a surprise! crappy to see you go but good luck just the same!

i’m assuming you will keep your personal blog braintied.com?

yinshang:

I’d appreciate you if you public this theme. :)

bill:

Dam straight we better get a refund! Seems awfully ironic that a few months after you start the themes club you decide to “cut and run.” Really, really… ironic.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt for now and assume that your sad little story posted above is true and that your not trying to simply scam all of us.

Nate:

@BILL: for five freakin dollars!?! give me a break. I think your just a little too paranoid.

Bill:

@Nate
1. It’s my money; I’ll be as paranoid as I darn well please.
2. I work hard for my money; my mommy does not give it to me… so yeah I’m going to be a bit edgy when someone pull something like this even if it is “just 5 freakin’ bucks.”
3. Even at 5 dollars I expect to get something out of it. We were promised a product(s) in exchange for our money and so far I have not seen one theme in the themes club that I can/want to use for anything. Were we not promised like a theme-a-month or similar?
4. Do the math there are a LOT of people that signed up for the themes club 5$x1,000 $5×10,000? Who the hell knows we could of all just made his salary for the year+!?

SP - I blogged about my feelings about the pending sale here and obviously some people are questioning my motivations for posting about this. So I figured that this is the right to time to straighten things out and bury the hatchet between us. I also think that there’s no better place to do that, than directly at the source, here at WPDesigner.com (I hope you don’t mind).

First off, I’ve always believed that you had the best platform around to launch into the premium themes market, yet due to personal opinions, you did not do this. In my opinion, I’ll always see that as you not maximizing the potential of something that you’ve built up to for 21 months, but it is obvious that, that would be my decision, since I did launch into the premium themes market. But considering the amount of work you put into building up WPDesigner.com (your stats prove this), I believe that you’re in a prime position to earn good money from the auction of your blog.

Even though I believe $65K for this blog is slightly ambitious, I believe a price of $25K - $30k will enable the next owner to earn a good return on their investment. I also think that you won’t mind that kind of price! :) And that’s the extent of my thoughts on the auction and the sale really - I really wish you the best of luck and even though I’m surprised by this decision, I wish you a successful exit from the WP scene for the immediate future.

And then I’d just like to touch on our falling out last year… I still maintain everything I said back then and I still wish that things worked out differently. Yet these things happen and ultimately time is a healer. That whole incident really pushed me into the limelight and helped to ramp up my blog traffic-wise. So at this stage, I can look back at that and have a chuckle on the whole thing; sometimes he WP community is just so small and these situations just implodes in a sense (and obviously everyone loses their objectivity and picks a side). Anyway, cutting a long story short: no hard feelings about last year bro - that stuff is so far behind us, it’s not worth it to waste time even debating the ins & outs of it…

I hope that I have achieved one things with this comment and that is to show that in my mind I’ve buried the hatchet between us and that I feel no negativity to you or the sale of your blog. All the best of luck, enjoy the travels and it should be interesting to see the next SP incarnation online. Peace out.

Bill,
1. Fair enough
2. My mommy doesn’t give me money either. But even if you work minimum wage, 5 bucks is less than an hour’s worth of work.
3. If you didn’t see themes in the club you liked, why did you buy the membership? You can join any time, and you get all the themes released through the club.
4. SP has said he has 400 paying members. 400×5=$2000. Not exactly the rags to riches story you thought.

SP has said that if the new owner doesn’t continue the theme club, he’ll refund the money tot he people who want a refund. So calm down, breath, and let it go.

Nate:

@bill: Well I am glad you don’t live off your parents. I still find it funny that your venting over $5.

You can say whatever you want next, but to help keep the comments section clean, I won’t respond to anymore of your replies. My apologies SP for any of the above. You (SP) do deserve a break from this shtuff. :)

[…] ????????????wp????wpdesigner????????????????????????????????????? ????small potato????????????????????????????????????????????????????????gg??????????????????????????????????????????????????? […]

Stevo:

@NATE: Are you an SP lovers or something? Let others have an opionion once in a while.

Nate:

@stevo: now that was a uncalled for.

Sure others can have an opinion, and others are allowed to respond to those “opinions.”

this is really shocking news, but who knows what’s it good for
Good luck man ;)

@Adii - lol nice try on the PR front. No amount of ass licking will detract from the fact that you’re a devious opportunist, you’ve just realised that your ‘readership’ won’t put up with your bullshit and can see right through you, that’s put the fear of god up you so you’re trying to save face here. Go back to your gated community and when you’ve got some talent people will endorse your little ‘brand’.

@Bill - $5 measily little bucks and you’re throwing a tantrum. Get a grip bozo.

ADII - I read what you posted earlier this morning and tried to keep my mouth shut by not commenting. Actually, I’ve been trying to keep my blunt opinions to myself for the last several months. But since you brought it on yourself by bringing your comments to my blog, below are my own thoughts.

1. Considering the original themes and tutorials are easily worth 39k, 25 to 35k at most for this blog is a harsh estimate. I can plaster banners and text links on this blog to easily up the starting bid, but I have no time for it. You’re either taking your last shot at me or just really don’t know what you’re talking about.

2. You can question the success of Wpdesigner all you want. I don’t mind. It does seem odd to be selling at this point and time. However, don’t conveniently neglect the fact that I haven’t monetized Wpdesigner at all and the fact that I’m nowhere near finished with my original plans for Wpdesigner.

3. Based on my personal experience with you, I believe you’re a shady developer and a shady person in general. What you love to do is use other people’s work (sometimes illegally) in your own projects and resell other people’s work in so-called “premium” themes. Even a piece of my own design showed up on one of your themes. Granted, you didn’t steal that piece, but you’re responsible for everything of and within your products. I’ve been keeping my mouth shut about this, but then again… since you brought yourself here… I might as well.

(You’re even using my read-me HTML file for one of your themes. Complaining about someone copying your read-me file is really petty, but c’mon…you used my read-me file! I don’t even have words for that sort of laziness.)

What you also love to do is sugar your statements for PR/business reasons. You’re the lets bury the hatchet and not burn bridges, but I secretly hate you kind of guy. I can’t blame you though. You’re a business-minded person after all and everyone’s got to eat. But as you can tell, I’m not like you.

4. I’m interested in being fair and up front regardless of my personal opinions. Even after the UBD incident, remember how I invited you to participate in the marketplace idea? I didn’t have to invite you did I? But, I did. There’s no hatchet to bury and I have no ill-will towards you. And like you, I don’t take back anything I said in the past. But unlike you, I’m glad we’re not friends anymore and would rather not cross path with you in future blog comments, business ventures, and in life. If you continue to give back to the WordPress community (for whatever reason) then I’ll wish you the best of luck.

5. Recognize that you’re in a losing battle and just keep your mouth shut like I tried to until now. There’s no point in another explanation because other theme developers in this community know what you’re up to. That’s right; I’m not the only one.

6. I didn’t write this comment out of anger. I’m just annoyed by you. And, I’m not interested nor do I have the time to keep on going back and forth with you. If you drag this on in future comments, I will delete your comments. If you bring your comment trolls with you, I will delete their comments too because I’m really that tired of all of the self-proclaimed rockstar(s) of the WordPress community.

Enough said. Point proven.

SP,

Best of luck to you and your traveling. I hope you enjoy your time off and don’t forget to take pictures! Start up a Flickr stream or something!

As for WPDesigner, I’m sure going to miss your posts, themes, and everything else you’ve been doing for the WordPress community. I’ll miss you as a bud too.

I hope the buyer doesn’t just take advantage of your site and put a ton of ads on it and what not. I really hope the buyer continues what you’ve started.

Also, what about the WPDesigner hosting? I’m guessing that will go down after the site has been sold?

And does this mean you’ll be gone forever? Or do you think there’s a slight chance you might get back into design and stuff?

Mike

Wow, I wish you could hold onto the site.

It’s a great idea in the making. However, I understand that you do not have the time nor resources to maintain its quality while traveling overseas.

I hope you get the BIN. Otherwise, You should hire a personal assistant to monitor the site while you’re gone. Then Write 3 Months worth of posts in advance, and hire a team of programmers to code 10 themes for like $500 bucks, give them to your VA, and Phoof! Income on autopilot.

Trust me, there’s a way around everything!!!

Good Luck to Ya!

Although I haven’t really spoken to you or made much of an effort to support the site, It will be a shame to see you go. I have used many of your amazing themes in the past and hope you have a great time. You will be missed.

And yes I have been wamboozled! before :)

@Michael - Thanks bro.Don’t worry about your site. I’ll take care of it. If you need to move, I’ll move it. And if it’s okay with the new owner, I’ll guest blog from time to time.

@Tarik and Lewis - Thanks guys.

Hi SP,

I am Jai from Blogohblog.com (for people who don’t know me, I am the person who bought Blog OH! Blog four months back from a nice person called Bob and been running it ever since).

Can you tell me what your asking price for the blog is? Its not that I am going to bid for it but I just want to know. Anyway, I respect you as a fellow theme maker and good luck with your sale!

Cheers!!

@Jai - Pricing is available here.

Sell to WPcanday!! :)

@ SP - I wish you the very best of luck in all your future adventures. Needless to say, you will always be remembered as the pioneer of wordpress themes, and in particular taking them to that next level. Just remember, when you’re on a beach somewhere really exotic in the world, all the bitchy comments won’t matter - you’ll be so far removed from petty comment wars. Rock on dude, and we certainly hope to see more of you in a year’s time. First and foremost you’re a great designer and not a money hungry entrepreneur, and I greatly respect that.

Cheers! –Dev

Well, I’ve just discovered you thanks to Mike at wpcandy (I won a themes club account), and you’re allready leaving me.

That sounds kinda negative, it’s not that I really care. We’re the same age and I admire you for what you’ve built up the last two years and what you’ve achieved so far. I wish you good luck on feature endeavours and hope to be able to read up on travel stories in the future.

I also hope you get a nice price for the blog. Cuz damn, we all love and need money. Especially if you’re going to travel!

Good luck, once again!

It would be a shame if the theme club would disappear :(
Sad to see you go, but I wish you the best of luck!

SP, I want to thank you personally for allowing me to write at least one guest blog posting on your domain. I hate the fact that the site will be switching hands but I understand your reasoning for doing so. I wish you the best of luck with WPDesigner and future endeavors.

If I had the money, I’d buy it, and maintain everything you started. However, it’s just too much for me to even consider.

I wish you all the best in the future SP.

WordpressGuy:

SP - Ayden is obviously a troll (I like to play delete the trolls, you should try it) :)

Additionally, I’ve been an observer of the WP design community from it’s humble beginnings. I love wordpress, design and marketing - and by observing (from the sidelines) the community that you have had a unique hand in creating, shaping and growing - I’ve had the very unique and priviledged opportunity to observe a new market appear and rise from nowhere into the thriving landscape of opportunity that it is today.

Thank you for giving me such an opportunity. It will be sad to see you go.

I wish you the best in your travels and I look forward to your future projects.

WordpressGuy

PS. Don’t worry, everyone knows who the good and the bad guys are… ;)

Webmatters:

I only discovered your wonderful site about six weeks ago, so am really sorry to hear you’re selling.

So I have a suggestion for you, why not just sell half of the business?? Get a 50/50 partner… so when you get back from travelling you will still have the site to fall back on.

It’s hard work building something up from the ground - I know, I did it 8 years ago and sold my shares 5 years ago, took the money and travelled. Got back from Europe with no money, no job, but with around 500 snapshots and great memories. In hindsight, I wish I could have done both :)

But you are young, and you will build something just as great…

Hope you travel plans include New Zealand…

This comment is my own personally opinion and while I read both yours and adii’s blogs, I am not a fan over someone else. Just want to prove my middle ground, its safer.,..

1) I personally think buying a blog is risky as. If you buy a blog for 10k lets say, that is in a proper business world you have to EARN at least twice that amount before it is successful. That is risky because while the blog world is going strong at the moment, there is no way it will continue for ever.

2) I think that if the buyer does NOT continue the $5 themes club, you will not be keeping up with your agreement with the subscribers meaning that you are defrauding them and so they are entitled to their money back! I know many probably wont agree with this but saying “I will probably” etc is shaddy as.

and to prove my middle ground…..

3) I also think $300 for a premium theme is a little pricey, dont get me wrong. I have actually brought a theme from adii and have created several websites using the technology but I think there are several deficiencies like the required Plugins not included.

Please do not get me wrong I love reading both blogs and I have received many answers to my problems and issues from both of you guys. Problem is that you are designers and not business men. Its hard to be both (I am struggling in this as well).

SP- I don’t think I’ve commented on WPdesigner before, but I’ve been an avid reader for almost a year now. I just had to say thanks- thanks for all the help your tutorials provided, thanks for showing us all that there are better ways to design WP themes, and thanks for steering WP in new directions. Its been great- good luck in the travels.

@JP - I already said worst case scenario is everyone will get a refund. Of course, buying a blog like this one is long term investment. If your only reason to not buy is “maybe it’ll fail tomorrow” then you shouldn’t consider buying any website at all.

I appreciate the fact that you’re at least taking the middle ground.

Rob:

Sad to see you go man. You had a great site, and you were finally the first person to realize the oppurtunities that exist by having a theme club compared to trying to max out per unit. It’s funny that someone else realized that all of Adii’s ‘Premium” themes are just ‘enhanced’ versions of other peoples work. Then when he had nothing left to steal.. errr.. borrow… err. be influenced by, he had to bring other people in. Which is fine, we are all inspired one way or another, but what I hate is how he is so blatantly money hungry. Charging extra money for plugins that support the theme? Come on man, have some shame. Don’t cry about it when poeple see how devious you are then. Your just here to pimp the community, and you only give back when people start calling you out on it. Your money hungry, don’t be pissed when people see what you are about. Do something about it and stop cryin. No one is against premium themes, they are against your shady practices, and arrogance.

Rob:

just after looking at things a little bit, I’m just going to connect the dots
He took down his little portfolio, so it’s hard to go back but off the dome:
Adii’s theme——— Inspiration
Block Magazine—- The Morning Aftter Theme
Your revolution is a joke==== Brian Garder’s Revolution News Theme
Premium News Theme———- Justin Tadlock’s Visionary Theme
Premium News Kineda Version—— duh, the Kineda Theme
Adii’s unnamed yet to be released PNT concept———————Qumunnication’s News Theme

I tired to find a link to the last one but I can’t find it right now. the funny thing is he trashed the News Theme on his premium news site. lol… what a scum bag. I also loved how he once was offering all the new PNT themes for a year for a set fee, then took the option off, god forbid he lose a buck. Bascially, what i’m saying is that this guy never had an original idea, he takes other people’s work and just tweaks it. I’m sorry, I don’t mean to go on an adii rage, but after reading his post it rubbed me the wrong way.

It is really sad for me. Last time it is happen to BLOGOHBLOG.com. I just start to loyal to the blog and out of sudden he also give the same reason, personal.Urghh!!! very..very upset. But what to do this is what we call internet life…i wish if you could think again and again…my learning still not yet complete..PLZZZ

@ abeku: Take a look at his personal blog, he has pretty much a lot of things going on in his life right now. All we can hope is that the person who is lucky enough to take the site is able to preserve it in its current form and continue its success in the area of wordpress blogging.

Small Potato - sorry I’m late to the party here, but I’ve been pretty much offline the past few days. Anyway, just a quick comment to wish you the best of luck with your travel and endeavors. You’ve developed a fantastic resource with this website, and moreso created a unique community of WordPressers here. Your absence will be missed by many, that I know. Stay in touch, and best of luck to you!

P.S. - Also wanted to wish you luck on your auction ate Sitepoint - you’ll get what you deserve for the site. Just make sure that aside from whoever buys it shelling out the money, that they have intentions on knowing and maintaining your legacy. I’d consider the purchase, but as you know, my hands are full. ;)

@Brian - Thx. I’ve learned a lot from you about how to deal with tough situations. Definitely keep in touch and good luck.

SP - Thanks for your comments to my comment :D and also thanks for your help over at my blog a few months ago.

I do realise getting reimbursed is the best option in case it fails but i think its still not the best timing as i am sure many will not join up with the uncertainty at the moment.

In regards to your comment
>>>”If your only reason to not buy is “maybe it’ll fail tomorrow” then you shouldn’t consider buying any website at all.”

Maybe you missed my point but that is not what I am talking about. Websites are hear to stay but are blogs? 25k odd is a lot of money and like I said to spend that much, you would need to earn at least twice as much for it to be successful. Not saying its impossible (look at problogger etc) but I have my doubts.

What? OMG. Good luck in your future endeavors, bro.

SP. So sad.. knowing you are selling this site. I sensed something like this in January itself from one of your posts. I personally feel wordpress community won’t be the same once you stop blogging here.

As suggested in one of your comments above, I do agree that you do not have appropriate marketing skills but at the same time, you have the passion and valuable content that nobody else have in the current wp community.

Best luck to you and For sure, I am feeling sad to see you go. Hopefully, you will overcome whatever problems you are facing.. soon enough.

Thanks

I wanted to leave a comment earlier but didn’t have time before I headed to work.

First, I want to say thank you for all the things you’ve done for the WordPress community. If it wasn’t for seeing your designs, I might not have ever gotten into this in the first place.

I want to wish you good luck with the sale. I hope you get a good price and we get a good team to keep the site alive. I would have bought it without a second thought if I had the money. :)

Also, make sure you stop by and visit if you ever get to Korea. I’ll try to find us some good places to hang out.

it’s Really sad that your selling WpDesigner.com :(

i never commented in this Blog.. I’m a CLUB Themes Member.. your the One who gave Quality themes… And in My Opinion your the Best…!

@ ANAND - is SP using google adsense and making money with His Blog?
how can you blame a Person who is giving you some Quality themes for 5$ i.e 200/- Indian Rupees..!

Mr.Anand, a beggar in INDIA earns more than 200/- per day…
Please give some respect to a Guy who has served the Wordpress Community..
and your talking about 6600 Dollars.. he said he’ll return the Money if he can’t give the CLUB members the 12 themes which he has Promised.

The People who are enjoying his FREE themes or CLUB themes do you think they didn’t made single Penny with that theme?

@ANAND go and get some Knowledge and then Talk about SP!

Best of Luck for your Future SP, i’ve learned lots of things from WPDesigner.com.

I did a post on my site wpthemes.info, but it does not seem to trackback. anyway good luck to you.

Thanks.

Sad to hear this, but good luck to your new adventure :)

Sorry to see that you’re selling but I’m not totally surprised. Found your absence over the past couple of weeks to be unusual and it seemed like ’something’ was up.

I hope you can continue the theme club even though I’m not using one of the themes completed thus far. But even if you don’t I don’t need a refund. I was drawn to the site for your excellent WP tutorials. What I got from them was worth more than $5 by far.

Good luck with selling the site. I hope you get what you’re looking for and find success in your next endeavor.

mike:

I am sad to hear the news. I wish you the best of luck in your new life. What ever happens please keep my $5.00. Your 4 Themes, free themes and great tutorials were totally worth $5.00. Can you please add a donation link to this site

Wow, someone made the buy it now bid. Congrats!

h4u:

@SP: yep, at times i feel you are being blunt some time. it’d be great if you can keep your mouth shut at sometime.

@ADII - you moron!. in your last message here you wrote.. “enough said.. “..

I wonder why you stopped barking? Because you have nothing more to bark? SP gave you a rock sollid responce, and you were tongue tied. If you compare (sorry SP, he is not worth even comparing with you in any manner) but still, If you compare urself with SP, you are no where to be seen!

SP is an artist.. while you are a businessman. Don’t you dare call yourself - wp rockstar - no one have given you that title but you, yourself has given it, which you are struggling to keep by thieving other’s codes, graphics and wt not, earning your two dime bread!

If you compare your work with SP, I dont think I need to say something. Ur work is crap compared to SP.

As for the attitude, I do agree you both might have some conflict in past but because he is saying good bye, you moron, if you can’t wish him good luck, you should keep your mouth shut. you two dime thief!

Now go, bark about this at your wild, south african blog where you atleast need to write something.. daily, not to mention.. its garbage!

Moral of the story is: Don’t insult SP by comparing yourself with him. He is way beyond u.. business skill is just a thing, he lacks. About you, business skill is the only thing you have!

hey sp, sorry to see you leaving wpdesigner.com - Still, you’re going to Phi Phi Island so I’m not sorry for you, and if everything with your sale goes well, you might have some extra money to spend. enjoy =)

AndrewE:

Wow looks like SP got his $65, 000!! Well done and congrats on what appears to be a big sale! Hope to hear news of this soon.

It’s an inspiration for bloggers of all niches.

Best of Luck with the travelling.

this is sad news !, but i think this is your final decision, so i just want to say have a nice travelling :D oh before you off from this site, i just want to thank will all tutorial that you give, because of you now i can made my own themes for wordpress

@SP
Thanks for giving me the inspiration to continue my 2 week old blog when I broke the default Kubrik theme and thought that’s it for my blogging dreams. I found your site via google, learned how to put div’s, li’s and ul’s properly, and you breathed new life to my presence on the net. After 6 months, I’m still at it, and have come full circle by using your beautiful WP7. I wish they wont delete the tutorials, but just in case, ill copy it on a wordfile somewhere for my personal use. I always come back here when I have a problem with the codes. Always.

Take Care in Thailand. I hope you don’t mind me calling this your “soul searching” when I post about it on my blog.

@New Owner
Please keep the tutorials and theme reviews. Thanks!

Yeah, I agree with Armen (#151). What was with that comment, anyway? Creepy.

Wow.. now that’s a bummer..

Boo… bad news to all of the newly weds of wordpress.
